Combining heartfelt and intelligent storytelling with close harmonies, finger-picked guitar and clawhammer banjo, Shayler & Brooke make contemporary folk music that draws on traditions from both sides of the Atlantic.
Writing in response to personal losses, family history and political troubles, they have captivated audiences with their raw vulnerability, humour and warmth.
Bristol-based Shayler & Brooke comprise of Londoner Kate Shayler (vocals and banjo) and Dorset-born Chris Brooke (vocals, guitar, violin). They launched their EP, Colouring Outside the Lines in 2017 and their debut album Come the Turn of the Season released in April 2020.
They have played venues and festivals across the UK, such as the Bridport Folk Festival in 2019, the Nest Collective’s Magpie’s Nest in 2021 and Bristol International Balloon Fiesta 2022. They were shortlisted as part of The Purbeck Valley Folk Festival’s ‘Purbeck Rising’ competition in 2020 and 2021.
